A flagship project for the energy transition: The Bundorf Solar Park

In the middle of Germany, in Bundorf, shines a pioneering example of citizen participation in the energy transition - the Bundorf Solar Park. This solar project symbolizes the possibility of converting our towns and communities to renewable energies.

What is special about the solar project in Bundorf?

Firstly, the PV park in Bundorf is an impressive 125 MWp in size. But that's not all: it is one of the largest municipal solar parks in Bavaria and furthermore one of the largest in Germany. Around 30 percent of the solar park is owned by citizens. This means that citizens have the opportunity to actively participate in the project via an energy cooperative and thus jointly drive forward the local energy transition. This is not only about generating solar power for self-supply, but also about providing heat for households and businesses in the region as well as charging facilities for electric vehicles. These diverse measures help to make the region less dependent on fossil fuels and are therefore good reasons for the local energy transition.
