Schützing/Marktl am Inn (Altötting district), 05.11.2024
MaxSolar from Traunstein is building a ground-mounted solar plant in Schützing/Marktl am Inn with an output of around 9 megawatts on an area of around 8 hectares. Around 15,000 bifacial glass-glass solar modules of the latest generation will be installed. At the official ground-breaking ceremony yesterday afternoon, Christoph Straßer, Managing Director of MaxSolar GmbH, welcomed the invited guests. Deputy District Administrator of Altötting Hubert Gschwendtner and Marktl Mayor Benedikt Dittmann then gave welcoming speeches to mark the official start of construction.
The solar area is divided into two sections: One section will be equipped with south-facing photovoltaic modules and is partly located on a former gravel pit. A second area is designed as an agrivoltaic system with tracking modules. The so-called solar trackers used in this area are racks that optimise the orientation of the solar modules by automatically aligning them with the sun to the east and west, which leads to a significant increase in solar power production. The concept of agrivoltaics is considered a new segment in Germany, especially tracker systems. The stretched power generation over the course of the day enables better commercialisation of the approximately 10,000 megawatt hours generated.
This dual cultivation not only promotes land efficiency, but also helps to reduce land consumption, as agricultural use and renewable energies can be utilised synergistically. ‘With this plant, which we are realising for the first time with solar tracking technology, we are not only setting a milestone for MaxSolar, but also for the region in the district of Altötting,’ emphasised Christoph Straßer. ‘This project shows how innovation, land utilisation and agriculture can go hand in hand to strengthen both the environment and the local economy.’
The photovoltaic system in Schützing is an example of the successful integration of renewable energies into existing structures and shows how modern technologies can be harmoniously combined with agricultural use.
