Battery energy storage system (BESS)

The path to a flexible energy infrastructure

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) transform rigid energy systems into flexible infrastructures: they shift energy over time, relieve pressure on the grid and reduce costs – where generation, consumption and market demands converge.

Customised battery storage solutions (BESS)

MaxSolar offers tailor-made battery energy storage solutions (BESS) for the reliable storage and optimisation of energy – both as independent power producer (IPP) projects and as tailor-made client projects.

With many years of experience as a project developer, operator and technical integrator of battery storage systems, MaxSolar views storage not as a stand-alone system, but as an integral part of an economically optimised energy system – from grid connection strategy to marketing. In doing so, we deliberately bring our operator’s perspective to bear: we understand our customers’ challenges and concerns from our own experience and consistently incorporate this expertise into the planning, design and risk assessment. This enables us to find the optimal solution for every application using our various business cases.

We support the entire process – from planning and approval through to installation and commissioning. We rely exclusively on high-quality, long-lasting lithium-ion batteries that meet certified standards and guarantee maximum safety and performance. The battery systems are delivered directly from the production facility to the site and professionally installed there in collaboration with the manufacturer to ensure smooth operation and optimal performance.

Even after commissioning, our service team remains at your disposal to ensure the system is operated correctly and to maintain its performance and safety in the long term.

The ideal solution for every application
Our Business Cases

MaxSolar provides battery storage solutions for grid operators, municipal utilities, and industrial and commercial customers. The company operates on a key principle: storage capacity, charging power, grid connection and operating strategy are consistently derived from the specific business case. Each solution is therefore individually tailored to the economic, technical and regulatory conditions of the specific application.

Stand-alone storage systems are connected directly to the public grid, independently of generation facilities. For operators or suppliers, this offers maximum flexibility in terms of usage: the storage system can be used specifically to smooth out fluctuations in demand and generation, whilst actively participating in the energy markets. This creates additional revenue opportunities, whilst the electricity grid is stabilised through grid-supporting services.

In unrestricted co-location, battery storage systems are installed alongside generation facilities such as solar or wind parks without significantly restricting their marketing or operation. This ensures maximum economic freedom at the site: the storage system can be used flexibly to reduce curtailment, engage in energy trading or provide system services. This significantly increases the overall return on the generation facility.

Restricted co-location storage facilities share a grid connection with the generation plant and are subject to defined operational requirements. The focus here is on the optimal use of available grid capacity: feed-in peaks are reduced, curtailment is minimised and grid requirements are reliably met. At the same time, this improves the predictability of feed-in for operators or marketers – a significant advantage, particularly in the context of long-term PPAs.

With Green Co-Location, energy is specifically drawn from the connected generation plant to ensure that the green electricity used is of the highest quality. This enables a clear and transparent green energy balance – for example, for sustainable products, high-quality PPAs, or to achieve ambitious ESG and decarbonisation targets. In this way, renewable energy is not only utilised, but also made clearly verifiable.
