Darstadt/Ochsenfurt - District of Würzburg, 30.01.2025
Last Monday, the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony took place for the construction of MaxSolar GmbH's new Darstadt substation on land belonging to the municipality of Riedenheim in Lower Franconia. A state-of-the-art transformer station is being built on a previously agricultural site in the district of Würzburg. The purpose of the new substation is to enable the connection of renewable energy sources, such as the solar park in Darstadt, to the electricity grid and thus strengthen the regional energy supply. The new substation will be equipped with a powerful transformer and connected to the existing Netze BW GmbH substation via an underground cable connection. Commissioning is planned for May 2025. Netze BW will then take over the operational management of the substation. The company is a subsidiary of EnBW and the largest distribution grid operator in Baden-Württemberg. Part of its network extends beyond the state border and is also located in neighbouring regions of Bavaria.
A key component of the project is the connection of the new transformer station to the Darstadt solar park, which is currently being built by MaxSolar GmbH, headquartered in Traunstein. The solar park, located around 20 kilometres away in a district of Ochsenfurt, will have a total output of around 70 megawatts and thus make an important contribution to the region's sustainable energy supply. Around 115,000 photovoltaic modules will be installed on an area of around 70 hectares, which are expected to supply 22,500 households with clean solar energy and save around 53,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
