The start of a long-term partnership: MVV Trading and MaxSolar sign their first fixed-price contract for the hybrid marketing of a green PV/BESS co-location

Press release

  • Long-term marketing of a subsidised 52 MW photovoltaic plant and a 30 MW / 60 MWh green electricity storage facility
  • The fixed-price model provides planning certainty and lays the foundation for a partnership-based collaboration

Mannheim / Munich, 24.06.2026

MVV Trading GmbH, the trading subsidiary of the Mannheim-based energy company MVV Energie AG, and MaxSolar GmbH have signed a long-term marketing agreement for an innovative PV/BESS co-location. The agreement was signed on 24 June 2026 at Intersolar Europe in Munich. The agreement covers the direct marketing of a photovoltaic plant eligible for EEG subsidies with an installed capacity of 52 MW, in combination with the optimisation of a battery storage system with a capacity of 30 MW and a storage capacity of 60 MWh.

With the signing of this agreement, both companies are marking an important milestone for the market-oriented integration of renewable energies and the cost-effective operation of hybrid plant concepts. The project is characterised both by its high degree of innovation and its outstanding scale: the combination of large-scale, EEG-subsidised photovoltaics and high-capacity battery storage is one of the most forward-looking hybrid marketing models in the German energy market. With a PV capacity of 52 MW and a storage capacity of 30 MW / 60 MWh, the plant meets key requirements of an increasingly renewable and flexible electricity system. The financing was arranged by DAL Deutsche Anlagen-Leasing/Deutsche Leasing Finance.

At the same time, this is one of the first combined fixed-price contracts of its kind. The agreement provides MaxSolar with long-term revenue security and lays the foundations for the further development of a partnership-based collaboration between MVV Trading and MaxSolar.

“Hybrid systems combining photovoltaics and energy storage will play a key role in the energy system of the future. With this concept, we are combining our many years of expertise as a direct marketer with our broad product portfolio in flexibility trading,” says Dr Jan Brübach, Managing Director of MVV Trading GmbH. “The contract with MaxSolar demonstrates how innovative plant concepts can be integrated into the market in an economically viable way through intelligent marketing and hedging solutions.”

“The scale and technical design of this PV/BESS co-location make the project an outstanding example of the next stage in the development of renewable energy,” adds Vivien Klein-Campailla, Head of Flexibility Solutions at MVV Trading GmbH. “With our hybrid fixed-price model, we combine long-term planning certainty with a marketing solution that meets the requirements of modern green electricity storage systems. We are delighted to be building a strong partnership with MaxSolar and to be further developing innovative marketing models.”

“For MaxSolar, the contract with MVV Trading is an important step towards securing the long-term viability of our hybrid plant concept,” says Christoph Strasser, CEO of MaxSolar GmbH. “By ensuring that photovoltaic generation and storage operations are remunerated as an integrated whole rather than in isolation, the project addresses key challenges facing the energy sector, in particular the integration of volatile renewable energy into the electricity system.” “This allows solar power to be supplied with greater flexibility in terms of timing, which contributes both to stabilising the electricity markets and to the more efficient use of existing grid capacity,” adds Moritz Kimmich, PPA Origination Manager at MaxSolar GmbH.

With this contract, MVV Trading is expanding its range of services for the marketing of renewable energy and flexible assets. As the MVV Group’s energy trading company, MVV Trading develops marketing and hedging solutions for generation plants, storage facilities and portfolios. The new fixed-price contract with MaxSolar underlines the company’s commitment to bringing innovative solutions for the energy transition to market in collaboration with partners.
