A new solar park is being built in the municipality of Amerdingen in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries - developed by H.S.H. Princess Camilla zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. It is being built by the company MaxSolar and operated jointly with Princess Wittgenstein. Following the successful completion of all preparations, the company launches the pioneering project with a ground-breaking ceremony in the presence of the landowner Princess Wittgenstein and the First Mayor Xaver Berchtenbreiter as well as important representatives of the community.
The Bavarian company MaxSolar, one of the leading energy companies in Germany, broke ground on Thursday for the 76 megawatt peak solar park in Amerdingen, which is due to go into operation towards the end of 2025. The solar power plant can supply more than 21,500 households per year and is expected to save around 27,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. The solar park will also make an important contribution to covering the region's energy needs.
A key component of the project is the connection with its own substation in Holheim. This infrastructure forms the backbone for the efficient distribution of the electricity generated and ensures the reliable integration of renewable energy into the public grid. Construction of the substation is scheduled to begin in April 2025, ensuring a seamless transition from the construction of the plant to electricity production.
Realisation takes place regionally and with local partners
Princess Wittgenstein comments: ‘This symbolic ground-breaking ceremony underlines the municipality's commitment to a sustainable future and emphasises the central role of solar energy in achieving our climate goals. Local value creation and good communication with the community and stakeholders are at the centre of our efforts. The cooperation with MaxSolar as the Bavarian general contractor is therefore also crucial for the successful realisation of this project.’
