With the official commissioning of the Agri-PV project in Oberndorf am Lech at the end of March, MaxSolar has reached another significant milestone in the expansion of innovative and sustainable energy solutions. An installed capacity of 17 MW has been achieved across an area of around 28 hectares. This makes it currently the largest Agri-PV plant in southern Germany.

The project exemplifies the intelligent combination of renewable energy generation and agricultural use. At least 85% of the land remains suitable for agricultural use. The project thus impressively demonstrates how conflicts of use between energy generation and agriculture can be efficiently resolved, whilst simultaneously creating new opportunities for agricultural businesses.

A key technological component of the plant is modern tracking systems, which enable optimal alignment of the modules and thus achieve a 20–30% increase in yield compared to conventional systems. This not only enhances the project’s economic viability but also increases the efficiency of land use.

The official commissioning ceremony took place as part of a joint event attended by representatives from the worlds of politics, business and academia. We were particularly delighted by the attendance of Minister of State Hubert Aiwanger, who highlighted the importance of Agri-PV for the energy transition and for rural areas. A tour of the site also provided an opportunity to experience the project first-hand and gain insights into the innovative technology.

Special thanks go to all our colleagues involved, as well as to our partners, Feldwerke GmbH, who have contributed significantly to the success of this project. The Agri-PV project in Oberndorf am Lech underscores the great potential of this technology as a sustainable solution for energy supply, as an opportunity for agriculture and as a catalyst for regional value creation.
