Munich, 07. May 2025
On May 6, 2025, MaxSolar GmbH brought together leading experts from the energy sector for the “Future Energy Summit 2025” at Munich’s Werksviertel to discuss current challenges and forward-looking solutions for the German energy industry. Around 220 professionals from the energy and industrial sectors, as well as from politics, took the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions on topics such as sector coupling, innovative financing strategies, the advancement of renewable energy sources, and the growing importance of battery energy storage systems (BESS) as flexible solutions for stabilizing the electricity market.
Christoph Strasser, CEO of MaxSolar GmbH and host of the summit, welcomed participants with the following words:
“The energy sector is facing enormous challenges—political uncertainties, volatile market conditions, and an increasing need for flexible solutions. Today, we have the opportunity not only to shed light on current issues but also to actively develop perspectives and solutions that will guide us toward a more sustainable and stable energy future.”
Looking Ahead: The Future of the Energy Sector
The summit opened with a keynote by Prof. Dr. Stefan Rahmstorf, a globally renowned climate scientist, who explored the impacts of climate change on energy systems and the urgent need for rapid adaptation. The subsequent panel discussion, “The Future of the Energy Sector: Framework Conditions and the Impact of Energy Policy,” featured Bernhard Herrmann (former MP, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), Bernhard Strohmayer (German Association of New Energy Industries), and Moritz Wickert (GARBE Renewable Energy – GREEN GmbH), who explored the political frameworks shaping the development of the sector. Another highlight was the panel on “BESS Business Models and Hybrid PPAs.” Experts Andrés Acosta (LevelTen Energy), Britta Wißmann (Watson & Williams), Dr. Lennard Wilkening (suena), and Christian Belotelev (Deutsche Anlagen Leasing/DAL) discussed the future and increasing flexibility of the electricity market. A keynote by Tobias Schütt (Cleantech Bridge GmbH) introduced innovative approaches to accelerating the transformation of the energy sector.
Particularly in the final session, the topics of grid connection, financing, and flexibility in a volatile electricity market were discussed in depth in dialogue with the audience.
Networking and Exchange
In addition to the professional content, the summit offered numerous networking opportunities. Participants from various sectors of industry and the energy sector exchanged ideas at themed tables during the breaks and at the closing get-together.
Christoph Strasser concluded the summit with a positive outlook:
“The Future Energy Summit 2025 impressively demonstrated that the energy industry, in times of change, not only faces challenges but also offers tremendous opportunities.”
