MaxSolar and Saft have signed an agreement for a battery energy storage project in Quitzow (Brandenburg). This marks an important step towards the development of a flexible and resilient energy infrastructure in Europe. At the same time, the project lays the foundations for a broader strategic partnership between the two companies, with the aim of accelerating the development of future battery storage projects in key European markets.
The “Quitzow II” project, developed by Denker & Wulf AG – for which MaxSolar is acting as the EPC partner responsible for turnkey construction – will provide a capacity of 30 MW and a storage capacity of 76.5 MWh. With this project, Denker & Wulf AG is further expanding its involvement in the field of energy storage. The battery storage facility is being built by Denker & Wulf AG as a co-location at an existing wind farm and its associated substation, thereby utilising the existing grid infrastructure.
Saft is supplying its state-of-the-art battery storage technology for the project, drawing on its many years of experience in delivering safe, reliable and high-performance solutions for critical energy applications. The partnership combines Saft’s battery expertise with MaxSolar’s expertise in implementing complex energy infrastructure projects.
The announcement follows a meeting between the management teams of both companies at the recent Intersolar Europe, at which MaxSolar and Saft agreed to expand their strategic collaboration. Building on the successful launch of “Quitzow II”, both companies intend to explore and jointly develop further opportunities for battery storage projects in Europe.
