Groundbreaking ceremony for the district heating project in Marktl am Inn: A milestone for sustainable heat supply

Press release

Marktl am Inn / District of Altötting, August 22, 2025

A significant step toward a sustainable and future-oriented heat supply was taken today in Marktl am Inn: The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the heating plant took place at Marktler Straße 25, near the local sports field, in the presence of representatives from the municipality, MaxSolar GmbH as the implementation partner, and the construction companies involved.

The district heating project will soon connect numerous households in Marktl am Inn to a modern and environmentally friendly heating system. Following successful contract signings and extensive coordination with authorities and technical planners, the construction phase has now officially begun.

“Today’s groundbreaking marks the beginning of an important project for the Altötting region,” emphasized Christoph Strasser, Managing Director of MaxSolar GmbH. “With this district heating project, we are not only creating an environmentally friendly solution for heat supply, but also a future-proof infrastructure that meets the needs of the local population. The implementation of such a major infrastructure project in just 16 months highlights the strength of the partnership between MaxSolar and the municipality of Marktl.”

Strong public interest and positive feedback show that the demand for sustainable district heating is high. Mayor Benedikt Dittmann stated: “This project is a cornerstone for the sustainable development of our community. I’m pleased that we are implementing this forward-looking initiative in close cooperation with MaxSolar GmbH.”

The first households are expected to be connected to the newly built district heating network by spring 2026. Next steps include the final definition of construction phases and the awarding of additional contracts.

“Today’s groundbreaking is just the beginning. We look forward to the upcoming phases of the project and to seeing sustainable heat supply take shape in Marktl am Inn,” said Josef Heigermoser, Head of Heat Supply at MaxSolar GmbH.
