The 33rd C.A.R.M.E.N. Symposium took place in Würzburg on 7 and 8 July 2025 under the motto ‘Resilience through transformation - renewable energies and sustainable resources now!’. With over 200 participants from science, business, politics and society, the event once again provided a central platform for information, dialogue and networking in the field of sustainable energy and resource transition.
At the opening, Ministerialdirigent Dr Klaus-Peter Potthast, Chairman of the Board of C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V., emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary exchange for a sustainable energy supply. The subsequent expert plenary session provided strong impetus in terms of content with renowned speakers: Prof. Dr Miriam Rehm (University of Duisburg-Essen) addressed the connections between climate protection and social inequality in her presentation - a topic that she impressively illustrated based on her study commissioned by the Bertelsmann Foundation. In his presentation, Prof Dr Peter Bofinger (University of Würzburg) took a critical look at the current course of economic and energy policy, stimulating lively discussions.
We were also represented as part of the programme: Alexander Steber, Key Account Manager in the Heat division, gave a specialist lecture on 8 July on the topic of ‘Well positioned for the future with PV, heat pumps and wood’.
The symposium once again provided a strong forum for topics such as electricity marketing, geothermal energy, climate adaptation and the circular economy - with over 40 specialist presentations, practical insights and plenty of opportunities for networking.
We would like to thank C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V. for the successful organisation and the inspiring exchange - and we are already looking forward to the next symposium!
