Regensburg East Energy Park inaugurated: MaxSolar builds 11-MW solar park as main contractor

The official opening of the Regensburg East Energy Park (ERO) on 7 July marked the successful completion of a major photovoltaic project for the region’s energy supply. As the main contractor, MaxSolar was responsible for the technical implementation of the 11-MW solar park.

The plant supplies the Regensburg Innovation Campus with locally generated, carbon-free solar power. Since 1 July, the companies AUMOVIO, Schaeffler and Siemens have been receiving the electricity generated via direct connections. The project thus helps to ensure a long-term, cost-effective and sustainable energy supply for one of the region’s most important industrial and innovation hubs, which provides around 8,000 jobs.

The project was initiated and commissioned by Bürger Energie Region Regensburg eG (BERR). In collaboration with the City of Regensburg, the participating companies and other project partners, a flagship project has been created that demonstrates the successful collaboration between community energy initiatives, the business sector and local authorities.

The photovoltaic system is fitted with bifacial solar modules, which use both direct and reflected sunlight to generate electricity. Inverters from KACO and transformers from Siemens Energy ensure a high-performance technical infrastructure.

Environmental considerations were also taken into account from the outset: the land is managed in a near-natural way through sheep grazing. This promotes soil structure and biodiversity in a sustainable manner.

MaxSolar would like to thank Bürger Energie Region Regensburg eG for the trust they have placed in us, and all project partners for their excellent cooperation. The Regensburg East Energy Park is a prime example of how innovative energy projects can be successfully implemented through strong partnerships.
