The PV Symposium 2025 at Kloster Banz was once again a complete success and an inspiring event for all those working on the future of solar energy. Amidst milestones and anniversaries, the long-lasting success of the solar industry was celebrated - proof of the important role that solar energy plays in today's energy supply.
Milestones & anniversaries
There were numerous reasons to celebrate this year: the 40th anniversary of the PV Symposium, the 50th anniversary of the German Solar Energy Society (DGS), 40 years of SolarPower Europe and 25 years of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). These anniversaries emphasise the long-term success of solar energy and the continuous development of the industry.
Sector coupling and the flexibilisation of supply and demand
However, while the industry continues to be successful, it is also facing new challenges. The expansion of photovoltaics has already made considerable progress, but clear strategies need to be developed in order to reach the next phase of growth. In particular, the control and flexibility of solar power production are crucial.
Storage technologies and market development
Another highlight of the symposium was the focus on storage technologies. The market for home storage systems is growing steadily, with more and more households opting for storage solutions. Huge growth is also expected in the area of large-scale and commercial storage systems - capacity could and should increase significantly over the next few years. This opens up new opportunities to further optimise the flexibility and efficiency of solar power use.
A big thank you to Conexio-PSE GmbH for the excellent organisation of the event. We are happy to be a sponsor and look forward to many more years of the PV Symposium!
