For the fifth time, MaxSolar has been named one of Germany’s TOP 100 most innovative medium-sized companies. The company was recognised in the scientific selection process, in particular for its culture of innovation. The award ceremony took place as part of the German SME Summit in Heidelberg.
The TOP 100 Award recognises medium-sized companies that systematically promote innovation and successfully put it into practice. The award is based on a scientifically supervised selection process led by Prof. Dr Nikolaus Franke of the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Our CTO, David Butz, accepted the prize at the German SME Summit in Heidelberg, where mentor Christian Wulff paid tribute to the winning companies.
For MaxSolar, this award confirms the company’s consistent evolution from a project developer to a provider of integrated energy solutions. Today, photovoltaics, battery storage, charging infrastructure and smart energy concepts are considered as a whole and planned as a comprehensive system. In this way, MaxSolar supports businesses and local authorities in making their energy supply more cost-effective, resilient and sustainable.
A key component of the assessment was the climate of innovation within the company. Experience gained from planning, construction and operations is continuously incorporated into processes and projects. Quality and service data are systematically analysed in order to further develop processes and embed knowledge within the company for the long term. At the same time, close collaboration between different departments encourages new ideas right from the early stages of a project.
Company premises also serve as a practical example
An example of MaxSolar’s new approach is the combination of photovoltaics, battery storage, charging infrastructure and long-term electricity supply and operating contracts — not as individual technologies, but as an integrated system. This is clearly demonstrated at the new headquarters at Traunstein railway station: the company building offers charging points for electric cars, and the electricity is generated on-site. Staff travel to work by train and spontaneously gather in the open-plan ground floor for project meetings. Departments such as planning and engineering are located close to one another; distances have been reduced, and discussions between different disciplines take place more frequently and at an earlier stage in the project. “Visitors realise that the building is not just an office, but a living part of our work,” says Strasser. “This brings to life what we stand for: integrated, practical solutions for the energy transition.” The award demonstrates that innovation extends far beyond new technologies. What matters most are structures, corporate culture and the willingness to continuously refine existing solutions – always with the aim of actively shaping the energy transition and creating sustainable added value for customers and partners.
